Norwich, United Kingdom Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust Full time

Hi, my name is Joseph Cassidy and I am one of the Clinical Psychologists in our Children’s, Families and Young Peoples Service. We are looking for people interested in the Assistant Psychologist role in our Central Youth service. The service itself is a community mental health team for young people aged between 14 and 25 years old, staffed by a range of professionals across various disciplines.
We are looking for a committed and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to work under the supervision of a Clinical Psychologist, to help undertake assessments and deliver brief psychological interventions to service users as well as their carers and families. You will be involved in the teaching and training of psychological interventions to other colleagues, as well as helping to develop and expand service-related research projects.
This post involves working with a wide range of clients and mental health difficulties. Within this context, our assistant psychologists have various responsibilities, including:

- To undertake psychologically informed assessments with young people, formulating their needs and difficulties to better inform subsequent care.
- To perform a range of clinical and research tasks essential to the operation of the team, including the delivery of routine outcome measures, psychoeducation materials, literature reviews and waitlist audits.

**The successful applicant will**:

- Enjoy making a difference to young people and supporting them (and their families and/or carers) to lead health and fulfilling lives.
- Value and engage with supervision, both group and individual. They will receive regular clinical and management supervision, offering a safe space to reflect on the role and the challenges or successes it brings.
- Recognize the importance of teamwork and close partnership working.
- Be able to work flexibly and creatively in response to service users’ needs, while still effectively managing their time and setting achievable goals.

Here at NSFT we pride ourselves on being a welcoming, talented, friendly and supportive team who like nothing better than sharing experiences and learning from each other. In addition to ongoing training and development opportunities, we are committed to providing an environment in which you can thrive.
Why work for us? We have challenges as a Trust, but we have ambitious aspirations, are pushing ahead with exciting transformation work and we need dedicated individuals to support us on our journey. We have strong, established professional networks coupled with an exceptional leadership team who will ensure you are truly cared for and cared about.
Why Norfolk and Suffolk? The people here are warm and welcoming, you’ll never be far from the beautiful coastline or Broads National Park. We’re an hour and a half away from London and have an international airport in Norwich too. Our villages, towns and cities are packed full of history, independent cafes, shops and theatres. We have excellent shopping, eating out, top ranking schooling and affordable house prices too.
