About the department
Group Technology’s key function is to provide global technology services that, when combined with the intellectual capital within abrdn, create value for our clients. We achieve this by developing and maintaining a technology strategy and architecture that is aligned to the company’s operating model, and designed in such a way to enable the implementation of business strategy.
Group Technology also contains the capabilities necessary to execute against that strategy, to provide robust and appropriate solutions. All of this is achieved within a context of positive assurance ensuring activities are conducted in line with standards, policies and commercial targets.
About the role
This lead role sits within the Business Intelligence (Enterprise Solutions) area of Group Tech and is aligned closely to the Investment business.
It is part of the business fabric dealing with a wide range of stakeholders within the department and the wider abrdn Operations team.
Working closely with the Business Intelligence Delivery Manager, the role:
- is accountable for business partnering in the delivery of the Business Intelligence service.- will entail providing consultancy to the business on how best to use BI, general BI requests and dedicated project work ensuring delivery of a high quality service.- work closely with the wider BI team and other ITS teams to deliver a BI service to the business.- will provide training to the business on self-service and BI development- will be expected to keep abreast of new technologies and developments within Business Intelligence and related areas of interest.
Skills and Experience-
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills- Good business analysis skills- Good problem solving and analytical skills- Experience of working in an Investment/Asset Management environment- Strong influencing & communication skills- Strong SQL skills- Good understanding of data warehouse design- Hands on experience in delivering BI via one or more BI platforms
Desirable- Prior experience as BI project lead- Experience in reporting financial information, dealing with complex data- Data modelling experience- Experience in enabling self-service BI users- Experience in one or more of the following tools Power BI, Tableau, SRRS, OBIEE- Experience in delivering BI using Snowflake- Working with an offshore team
