**Job description**
The role of the Carpenter assistant is to provide support and assistance to one or more skilled carpenters in the fast-paced workshop based carpentry section
**Day to day responsibilities**
general assistance to the carpenter including assisting with all types of carpentry work in building Ply wooden or part wooden items which form part of van linings and racking assembly’s, and additional associated wooden items, such as vehicle bulk heads and bespoke part(s) designs
- assisting in general carpentry work and preparation as directed
- as directed by the Line manager to assist with storage, lifting, fetching supplies, undertaking tasks to assisting lead carpenter
- assisting to identify hazards, defects and the need for adjustment or repair; to ensure compliance with health and safety
- interacting with Line Manager and other site workers and performing jobs as and when they are required.
- working using your own initiative within agreed roles
- maintain accurate worksheets and records/documentation associated with your work
**Key Performance Metrics**
Essential Experience & Skills
- to have achieved the qualifications. School college award in Basic Carpentry
- experience in this type of job role - minimum 1 year
- knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to the carpentry trade
- to be flexible and willing to work as part of a team
- to be friendly and approachable
- to understand and deliver good customer service
- essential to have a good attention to detail

Fittingly enough, it’s our Finishing Team who get the product over the line. Whether it’s powder coating, acid etching or a trip through one of our semi-automatic spray booths, we offer you more high-quality finishes than a World Cup final.
