**Join our kitchen as a Production Chef**
Baycroft in Kempston is an elegant 80-bed Care Home where everyone is made to feel loved, safe, and comfortable. The home offers residential, nursing and dementia care and puts the needs of residents and their families at the heart of everything they do.
**The role**
We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join us in the position of Sous Chef in Kempston cooking for 80 residents and staff.
**Salary**: £27446 per annum
Your responsibilities will include:
- Displaying leadership by providing a positive motivational work environment, supporting and communicating with employees as appropriate and demonstrating a professional approach to management.
- Overseeing and providing direction for all day-to-day operations in the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef
- Supporting the Head Chef in providing guidance and direction to the kitchen brigade, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Scheduling and co-ordinating the work of the kitchen brigade to ensure that food presentation is technically correct, and of outstanding food quality.
- Supporting the Head Chef in working within pre
- determined budgets ensuring operational needs and objectives are met.
- Ensuring all food costs and labour are managed within the catering budget
- Facilitating chargeable services i.e., Birthday parties, end of life gatherings
- Working in conjunction with the Head Chef in implementing all food production, and the implementation of rotational menus considering the differing needs and requirements of residents about special diets, pureed or soft diets etc.
- Interacting with residents and use customer feedback, satisfaction survey results and the monthly Food and Beverage meeting to drive forward service.
- Actively handling residents’ problems or complaints
- Working in conjunction with the Head Chef in developing and continuously improve the Food and Beverage/Fine Dining Experience for our residents.
- Improving the service by providing guidance to the brigade in understanding resident’s individual dietary needs and give feedback, and individual coaching when needed.
**What you will need to succeed**
- Have experience of working as a Sous Chef
- Show knowledge of catering for the elderly and the important of nutrition and fortified diets where appropriate (Desirable).
- Have a City and Guilds Diploma in Professional Cookery or BTEC HND in professional Cookery or equivalent (Desirable)
- Prove their stocktaking, product ordering and accountability experience
- Be COSHH ‘Control of Substances Hazardous to Health’ trained and HASSAP aware
