Lead a team of skilled craftspeople as you support critical government work

Join us in this key role and you’ll lead and manage a small team of skilled craftspeople and apprentices as they work on anything from the fitting of a set of fire doors to a major installation project at one of our Embassies overseas. Responsible for ensuring all the projects you supervise complies with Health and Safety policies, you’ll deliver work that meets the high standards our customers expect.

You’ll have a number of other significant responsibilities, including day-to-day liaison with project managers and installation design teams, and occasional interaction with diplomats. We’ll also expect you to maintain your own professional development and expertise, keep up to date with the latest technologies and practices, use your skills to advise on maintenance tasks, and investigate, diagnose and resolve any issues in support of team members based overseas.
You will still be required to carry out building works as well as supervise.

Help to deliver the security requirements to protect British assets overseas

This is a role where your ability to interpret technical drawings will come into their own, and your knowledge of building materials and the suitability of various timbers will be put to good use. With a Level 3 qualification in carpentry and joinery and the successful completion of a recognised apprenticeship, you’ll have wide ranging experience of first and second fix carpentry, and experience of leading multi-disciplined teams to deliver construction projects on time, to budget and to a high quality of finish.

A CSCS card holder, capable of communicating with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders, and with the ability to lead and task teams of up to five skilled tradespeople. Previous overseas working experience is not essential but may put you at an advantage. Knowledge and understanding of general building works - for example scaffold erection, plastering, the installation of suspended ceilings and UVPC doors etc - is desirable, as is an understanding of construction design management requirements.
