Laundry & Cleaning Assistant

The domestic job role with in Shirecare ltd include cleaning and laundry duties.

Training will be given sufficiently in line with Domestic post applied for.

Weekend work will be included as is bank holidays.

We do have incredibly high infection control standards and cleaning practices and expect the same high standards from any individual should they wish to join our team.

We are looking to employ someone for 24 hours 3 days weekly including alternate weekends.

Duties and roles include:
1. To be familiar with the regulations that govern care homes such as Health & Safety, COSHH Requirements, Infection Control and Fire Safety.

2. To use all provided Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) ensuring your personal safety.

3. To dress appropriately in the correct uniform and footwear following the uniform policy.

4. To undertake mandatory training effective for your job role, and other training if required.

5. To attend and participate in staff meetings.

6. Thoroughly clean lounges, bathrooms and toilets including baths, shower rooms, wash basins throughout your shift.

7. Thoroughly clean all service users bedrooms daily.

8. Use all cleaning materials as appropriate, do not mix cleaning chemicals.

9. Ensure that all equipment is safe to use, REPORT to person in charge any faults.

10. Ensure that all cleaning materials are not left unattended, and when not in use locked away in a cupboard.

11. Display warning notices when cleaning is in progress (e.g.) WET FLOOR SIGN as required.

12. Observe all Health and Safety Rules.

13. Ensure you follow the correct procedure of disposal of normal waste in the appropriate waste bags, and the disposal of clinical waste using the yellow bags correctly. Ensure clinical waste bins are kept locked.

Your main laundry duties will include:

- Ensure all laundry is kept clean, fresh and well ironed.

2. Follow all Health & Safety Regulations and Infection Control Procedures.

3. Follow all COSHH Data.

4. Ensure all Service Users laundry is named, and recorded on their property list.

5. Maintain cleanliness of the laundry department throughout spell of duty, as required.

6. Ensure all laundry equipment is kept clean and any faults to be reported to the person in charge.

7. Ensure all linen cupboards are kept tidy and well stocked, nothing but linen is to be stored in the linen cupboards.

8. All service users to be put away neatly and tidily in their rooms.

9. All laundry staff to follow the uniform policy.

10. Ensure personal safety by wearing appropriate protective clothing and gloves when dealing with soiled linen.

11. To undertake any staff training as required by the home.

12. To consult with the manager of any new equipment required to complete tasks.

13. To attend and participate in staff meetings.

14. To leave the laundry department tidy and clean.

15. Ensure all equipment is switched off at the end of shift.

Pay: From £11.44 per hour
