Job Details:
The provision of maintenance within the contractual timescales and technical support within the department to achieve the performance standards and customer satisfaction within budget constraints and timescales. Monitors and controls a team of engineers through effective liaison with Call Centre and Management to ensure the highest standards of morale and customer service consistent with optimum quality of work.
Job duties and responsibilities:
Essential
- To investigate and repair ongoing faults on any equipment as contracted at any time.
- To investigate and prepare reports and make recommendations on potential or actual problems.
- To continually develop and identify systems and processes that improve the reliability and maintainability of assets.
- Ensure standards of quality as defined by the company and customer are achieved or exceeded.
- Comply with all statuary Health and Safety Acts and with the customer regulations where applicable.
- To effectively plan modifications by liaison with customers, Operations Managers and/or other Cubic departments or OEM’s.
- To deputise for Field Service Manager where required.
- Carry out Risk Assessments and continually review and identify safer methods to reduce or remove risks.
- Carry out Quality and Safety Audits.
- Identify, set up and maintain good relationships with the customer.
- To assist Service Centre staff where necessary.
- Technical liaison with customers and any other contractor as required.
- Preparation or review of all programmes, technical schedules and method statements.
- To monitor the day to day performance of Field engineering using statistical data, on the job quality assessments and through regular contact with the FRC’s, resource planners and technical support departments.
- Co-ordinates calls designated for the attention of the Technical Specialist. So that they can effectively respond to and clear them in a timely manner.
- Collects and complies briefing material to communicate effectively with team members at regular scheduled meetings. These meetings are to be minuted and arranged at times when minimum disruption is caused to service cover.
- Ensures that field engineers maintain all company property, especially vehicles, tools, spares and test equipment in good order and that company standards in respect of timekeeping and dress are maintained through regular checks at meetings and in the field.
- Develops interpersonal, technical and leadership skills to motivate and instruct team members, moulding individuals into an effective and cohesive team.
- To carry out first line disciplinary action with Field Service Manager and/or HR Manager.
- To identify resource requirements and assist with recruitment of staff.
- To identify training requirements and ensure correct level of training/ coaching delivered.
- Comply with Cubic’s values and adherence to all company policy and procedures. In particular comply with the code of conduct, quality, security and occupational health, safety and environmental policies and procedures.
- In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time-to-time, as may be reasonably required of them.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge:
Essential
- Experience engineering in AFC environment
- 'Hands on’ experience working in a high-tech Service/Maintenance environment
- Experience in managing teams of Field Engineers
- Proven skills in coaching and delivering training
- Experience in a customer facing role
Desirable
- Intermediate Computer literacy including Microsoft Excel and Word Skills
