About The Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join the UK’s 2nd largest Building Society as a Senior Risk Analyst specialising in Model Validation.
This role sits within the Financial and Enterprise Risk function, which reports directly to the Chief Risk Officer. This role reports to the Senior Risk Manager - Model Risk & Validation and is a technical role with no line management responsibility.
The 2nd line of defence are a trusted advisor and critical friend to the 1st line of defence. Our key purpose is to enable the business to make effective risk-based decisions, underpinned by robust controls and governance.
We have a hybrid approach to where we work - you’ll spend some time in the office and some time working from home depending on what needs to be done and where you can do it best.
About You
We are looking for someone who holds a degree level (or higher) qualification with particular emphasis on a numerate discipline (ideally, statistics, finance or mathematics related) is necessary, or demonstrable equivalent skills through experience.
You will ideally have an understanding of development or validation of Financial or Credit portfolios. This could be frompreviously working with models in a Treasury, Finance or Credit function.A working knowledge of advanced IRB and IFRS9 modelling techniques(PD, LGD, EAD) for Retail credit portfolios would be advantageous.Relevant experience in other asset classes or disciplines will be considered.
In your current or previous roles you will have gained experience in a statistical environment primarily within financial risk management, model validation, or credit risk analysis.
You will have a sound understanding of statistical techniques, and knowledge, understanding and experience of monitoring and validating risk models.A strong working knowledge of financial or analytical modelling in Excel would be beneficial. In addition,some knowledge and experience of programming in SAS or balance sheet forecasting software (e.g. QRM) would be an advantage.
In additional to having a strong technical skill set, you will also need to have the confidence and communication skills to effectively engage with stakeholders across the Society, including our Executives. In addition you will need to be able to explain complextechnical matters in a concise and easily understood format to senior but non-technical people.
