Trading & Despatch Compliance Senior Associate

We’re looking for the newest member of our growing Legal Team to provide compliance oversight to our forward trading and power station dispatch activities as our new Trading and Despatch Compliance Senior Associate. This critical role involves working closely with our Regulation and Public Affairs Manager to ensure regulatory compliance across InterGen’s thermal assets. **The Team**:
The Legal team forms an integral part of InterGen and how we operate. We are a supportive team of high performers who are driven by shared goals and a desire to succeed.

You will work closely with members of the Legal, Risk, Operations and Engineering and Trading teams as well as our associated forward trading entity, Powertica. The nature of this role means you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across all areas of our InterGen and regularly engage with external industry organisations and regulatory authorities.

**Summary of Responsibilities**:

- Working closely with the Regulation and Public Affairs Manager supporting the oversight of regulatory compliance of prompt, within day and balancing of InterGen’s power stations assets and the related activities of InterGen and Powertica both on trading and despatch desks and at power station sites.
- Maintain a good compliance relationship with Powertica in relation to compliance facilitating the Service Agreement between parties, including working with Powertica’s own compliance team.
- Supporting InterGen’s regulatory compliance capability
- Administration of governance policy framework across the organisation, and maintenance and training in relation to Legal and Risk Management policies andprocedures
- Supporting the business in analysing and assessing regulatory risk

You’re bringing essential expertise in market codes and regulations like the Grid Code, REMIT, IOLC, and TCLC. You have a strong knowledge of GB power, gas, and carbon markets and have collaborated with industry working groups, bringing with you an existing network in this sector.

You have an expert understanding of GB power, gas, and carbon markets, and experience in maintaining a governance framework, including policies, processes, training, reporting and disclosures. Ideally, you will come from a background of generation assets and had experience communicating with the UK regulatory authorities like Ofgem and FCA.

Bonus points if you have knowledge of EU energy commodity markets - but don’t worry if you don’t, we can develop you in this area.

**Your Qualifications/Experience**:** Education**

A qualification in Economics, Regulation or Compliance or relevant professional experience in these fields

**Experience**
- At least 3-5 years of compliance experience, ideally within energy markets
- A deep knowledge of GB physical power within-day/despatch (EMC) and forward markets along with the related regulatory environments
