Job description
Birches Remembrance Park and Crematorium is a modern facility
aiming to provide the highest quality remembrance gardens for the bereaved.
We now need a part time gardener to help support the
maintain the remembrance gardens as a beautiful and serene area for quiet
contemplation.
primarily be responsible for the maintenance of the gardens to ensure they are
presented and maintained to the highest of standards. The role will involve the
full range of horticultural tasks and will include the following:

- Maintenance of extensive planting areas including pruning, weeding, re
- planting and mulching as well as care of memorial stock
- Propagation, including sowing, dividing and other techniques
- Knowledge of sustainable horticultural practices or willingness to learn.
- General maintenance of the garden including mowing, strimming and
hedge cutting
- Care and maintenance of garden equipment and machinery
Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Knowledge
Essential
- Driving Licence, valid for driving within the UK
- Previous practical gardening / horticultural experience with sound
demonstrable plant knowledge
- Sound knowledge and ability in the use of basic gardening tools and
machinery, including regular maintenance
- Excellent interpersonal skills
Desirable
- Good organisational skills
- Positive attitude
In addition to maintaining the gardens to the very highest of standards, you
may occasionally be required to assist with other duties. Suitable training will be
provided and whilst such work is expected to be limited, it is essential that the

aware that bereaved families will use the gardens and excellent interpersonal
skills will be required in dealing with such families from time to time.
