We are very fortunate to get lots of books donated, which we then sell in our shops and on eBay. As a Book Sorter, you will support and assist the team in maximising the income generated by book donations. The role involves sorting the donations into groups and sets, ready for moving to our shops or listing on eBay.

The role involves lifting sets of books. Manual handling training is provided.

We ask you to commit to at least one regular half-day weekly session. This could be Monday to Friday:
AM: 9am to 1pm

PM: 1pm to 5pm

Sunday:
10am to 1pm

1pm to 4pm

Alternative time slots can be arranged.

**What you’ll be doing**:
Under the leadership of a manager, you will be assisting with:

- Sorting donations of books into sets
- Preparing groups of books to be sent to our shops
- Checking books to ensure they are in good condition
- Researching rare and interesting books to check their value
- Preparing books to be listed on eBay
- Assisting the team with organising donations
- Promoting the public’s understanding of the work of Isabel Hospice and the importance of raising funds through the shop

We ask that our volunteers are:

- At least 18 years old.
- Interested in volunteering for at least 6 months for at least 3 hours per week.

**Your Skills and Abilities**:

- Enjoy working in a team environment.
- Good organisational skills.
- Interested in books and literature
- Knowledge of authors and book genres would be an advantage

**Expectations**:

- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Isabel Hospice guidelines
- Demonstrate Isabel Hospice values
- Identify yourself as a volunteer while carrying out your duties
