Food Safety Technologist

**Summary**:
To coordinate sampling and testing (analytical and microbiological) of environmental and finished product collected in the factory.
To drive site awareness in:
- Analytical and microbiological concerns.
- Support awareness of good hygiene and sampling practice.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **To coordinate** sampling of environmental and finished products in line with site and customer requirements.
- To prepare and registration of samples involving
- Coordinating, labelling and dispatching of samples.
- Data transfer to internal systems from laboratory providers:
- Registering of samples
- Saving of results and certifications.
- Liaising with external laboratories for external testing.
- Product and raw material release control.
- **Support**creation and management of food safety handling reports including internal and customer reports.
- Publish daily OOS (out of specification) and pathogen report.
- Provide data on a daily basis for daily KPIs in a timely manner.
- On a weekly basis provide data and support for internal weekly reports (LAMPS) and customer reports.
- On a monthly, quarterly and yearly basis provide data and support for internal and customer reports.
- Awareness of accreditation (MSC (Marine Stewardship Council), Red Tractor) and customer requirements (on microbiological, allergen labelling, species and nutritional requirements) for food safety.
- Undertake validation and verification of process controls such as nutritional sampling, allergen swabbing and sampling, species sampling, swabbing and cleaning validations.
- **Support** the technical process team conduct validation studies prior to the introduction of any new equipment or following adjustments to existing equipment, involving documentation of routine validation exercises, trial parameters
- **Support**nutritional, shelf life, species and contaminants sampling schedule and activity for food safety and customer requirements.
- **Maintaining** sampling schedules.
- Sample processing
- Verification samples are within specification.
- **Support**monthly reporting of nutritional, shelf life, species and contaminants sampling against program.
- Undertake hot/cold spot validations as per site schedule and risk assessment.
- **Support** maintenance of stocks of consumables, through regular stock checks and proactive ordering to ensure it is in line with budget.
- **Support**maintenance of test equipment and co-ordinate repairs and recertification with service providers as required.
- Attend team, site and customer team meetings, including supporting presenting KPI and food safety information and trends.
- Undertaken regular GMP and internal audits.
- **Support** food safety requirements for accreditation and customer requirements in a proactive manner, ensuring remedial action is undertaken proactively with the wider factory team.
- Support Technical Service Team, with KPI and customer complaint reporting as required.
- Support Health & Safety risk assessments for QA activities.
- Work alongside the Head of Technical on any project deemed necessary by the business.
**Knowledge & Experience**:
- Qualifications: _
- HND/Degree in a food or microbiological related discipline or relevant experience.
- Food Safety Level 2 as a minimum.
- HACCP Level 2 as a minimum.
- Qualification in Microsoft Excel
- Ideally GMP Audit training
- Knowledge & Experience: _
- 3 years’ experience within Chilled Manufacturing (High Care and / or High Risk) or laboratory.
- Worked in a similar role or can show previous experience.
- Working in a cross functional role across manufacturing, QA and external laboratories.
