**Head of Projects and Process - Grants and Funding**:
The National Archives (TNA) is the official archive of the UK government and for England and Wales, and makes a vast collection of historical records dating back over 1,000 years available to the public. TNA is also an Independent Research Organisation (IRO), meaning we are eligible to lead UKRI-funded research, as well as an important funder for the archives sector across the UK.

TNA established a new Grants and Funding Office in November 2021, to be a central locus for our:
1. Grant-making to the archives sector;
2. Grant fundraising;
3. Management and assurance of external funding.

We are now advertising for three roles within this new office. The successful applicants will work together to deliver an ambitious grants strategy, which supports our world-class academic and scientific research, as well as our leadership of the archives sector as a whole.

We want our grant funding to be more strategic, more assured and more impactful, both in the funding we win (from UKRI, NLHF and others), and in the funding we disburse to the archives sector on behalf of the Government. You will work with civil servants, researchers and archivists as part of a welcoming team that is responsible for delivering that vision.

The Head of Projects and Process will have strategic and operational responsibility for TNA’s grants portfolio in post-award, and the processes that govern it. You will work closely with colleagues in Research and Academic Engagement, Finance and other research-active departments, to collaboratively design and implement procedures that will shape the grants administration and financial management of TNA’s funding portfolio, as it grows in the future.

You will have experience of managing grants in the government, research or charity sectors. Outstanding financial skills are essential, alongside a thorough understanding of grants finance principles such as Full Economic Costing. The postholder will design processes and systems for managing grants in an assured and auditable way, in compliance with Government standards and funders’ terms and conditions. You will liaise closely with researchers, project teams and other end users, to implement new procedures successfully and design solutions that are proportionate to the needs of the institution.
