This innovative role will deliver and develop work directly with carers affected by substance use who wish to become volunteers with PROPS and our partner organisations.

To act as single point of contact for coordinating carer and volunteer recruitment, ensuring clear pathways into PROPS projects.

Work with existing employment and drug treatment advisors to identify employment opportunities both within PROPS and across Newcastle’s drug and alcohol treatment / criminal justice system.

The Volunteer and Family Coordinator is a new post under the Project Adder contract (Addiction, Diversion, Disruption, Enforcement and Recovery), the government’s pathfinder programme combatting drugs misuse. Project ADDER is a joint Home Office and Department for Health and Social Care pathfinder programme delivering change in some of the worst affected areas. The national project is supported by a robust monitoring and evaluation framework, building the evidence base to inform the longer-term strategic approach. This includes an independent evaluation to be carried out by Kantar Public.

This role is specific to meeting the needs of carers and family members who are either involved in or wish to become involved in the development and capacity building of PROPS.

The post holder will offer an integrated approach to volunteers, specifically to those whose family members are involved with the criminal justice system. Providing them with knowledge, information, and skills, in order to contribute towards the development and capacity building of the organisation and their personal recovery beyond their caring role.

The Volunteer and Family Coordinator will provide volunteers with the necessary supervision and support in order for them to take active lead roles within each chosen project area ensuring they have the right skills and competencies in place and are employment ready.

Duties are not exclusive. Duties will be reviewed where necessary.

**Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities**:

- Regular line management of volunteers in the service
- In partnership with the Project Manager review and develop all current volunteering processes and ensure robust pathways are created and communicated to the whole service
- Support all volunteers with the Volunteer Support Outcome Profiles (VSOP) to ensure they are supported in specific areas of work and health & wellbeing
- Collation of the outcomes of all VSOPS
- Responsible for the development, education and skills for volunteers in the service
- Identification of opportunities for volunteers to enrich their lives beyond caring
- Ensure the health and wellbeing of all volunteers remains a priority and have systems set up to manage this effectively
- Supporting the Project Manager to compile outcomes and reports for the service
- Managing expense forms for all volunteers
- Working in partnership with the Volunteer Passport Service in Newcastle so volunteers can easily access our service and other partners
- To be the Designated Safeguarding Officer for volunteers
- Assist the Project Manager in the delivery of briefings / training for all volunteers
- Work with internal colleagues to identify new volunteers to support the expansion of PROPS service
- Lead the recruitment process of new volunteers
- Supporting the Project Manager with duties when requested
- Monitoring outcomes using Microsoft Office 365

**Partnership Work**
- Liaise and continue to establish relationships with volunteering employment agencies, Training & Development Officers, and DWP, to assist in developing pathways through the systems of Newcastle.
- In addition to volunteering within PROPS, work with other partnership agencies to match volunteers with opportunities according to their specific interest.

**Education and Awareness**
- Assist in the delivery of PROPS educational and training packages.
- Work with partner agencies including health, social services, education, training, and employment, as well as treatment services and the criminal justice system, to assist in coordinating, developing, and delivering training packages to improve volunteer take up.
- Develop and maintain an up-to-date directory of volunteers accessing PROPS and those signposted for volunteering across the system.

**Supervision and Training**
- Assist in the preparation and delivery of programmes of training for volunteers both internally and externally.
- Keep personally up to date with developments and new initiatives and legislation affecting drug and alcohol, and its associated behaviours.
- Attend Safeguarding and Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) training.
- Keep up to date with legislation regarding volunteering and the law.
- Keep up to date with legislation regarding the criminal justice system.
- Attend and participate in mandatory and additional training sessions both as trainer and trainee.

**Administration**
- Track and monitor volunteers, carers, and family
