Waste & Sustainability Advisor

To provide expert and specialist advice on matters of waste and sustainability across the organisation in order to enable the LLP and its clients to comply with all relevant legislation.
Delivery, implementation and monitoring of waste streams and their contracts which includes clinical, mixed and sanitary waste, ensuring compliance by both Trust and LLP staff and by contractor;
Training will be given and the successful applicant is expected to undertake Environmental Management qualifications which will be funded by North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust

Main Responsibilities
- To ensure the effective delivery of waste management across all services and sites within the LLP and its clients;
- To assist staff to develop and promote a positive health and safety culture within the LLP and it clients;
- Develop and implement effective monitoring and audit systems to measure waste and sustainability performance;
- Conduct proactive and reactive inspections and audits to measure / monitor compliance with policies, specific statutory legislation and standards in line with current priorities;
- To review and advise on new legislation affecting waste and environmental issues and where necessary provide briefing notes for comment / approval;
- Liaise with statutory bodies in relation to waste management;
- Produced, review and develop specific waste management and sustainability safety policies and procedures and ensure they are regularly updated, consulted on as appropriate with staff, colleagues and other stakeholders;
- To assist in the population of the risk register regarding the identification, development, monitoring and review of environmental risks;
- Develop and deliver specialist training on waste management to a range of staff groups across both the Foundation Trust and the LLP and its clients (external customers);
- To participate in and support both the Trust and the LLP’s Health, Safety and Welfare Committee;
- Monitor and review adverse incident and carry out analysis on patterns / trends of incidents determining root causes and producing recommendations for action to prevent re-occurrences;
