About Food and Beverage

The Food & Beverage department services food and drink outlets and venues within the DUSA Building, Duncan of Johnstone College of Art and Design, University library as well as catering for other departments throughout the campus. Our focus is to provide high quality, good value food and drink throughout the day and evening.

The position of **Food and Beverage Assistant **will vary from day to day depending on what venue and shift you are working. We operate multiple daytime and evening venues ranging from casual takeaway offerings, high quality a la carte dining, nightclub bars, innovative cocktail bars, laid-back sports bars and a variety of functions across the University campus.

The Role
- To be responsible for preparation and service of food and beverages operating to the department standards.
- To be trained to prepare and serve Barista style coffee and hot drinks to the standard set by DUSA and the coffee supplier.
- To be fully conversant with the menu, product ranges and offerings in any area that you are required to work within.
- To accurately record sales and stock movements through EPOS and other processes.
- To provide professional standard of customer service to all customers, ensuring where possible upselling and promoting special offers and deals. To ensure that all customer feedback is passed to the Bar Supervisors / Management for action if required.
- To be responsible for the general hygiene and cleanliness of the bar and service areas, ensuring regular checks are made of the areas, tables are cleaned, and debris cleared.
- To undertake cashing up of tills reporting any deviances as per the procedures, undertaking change runs to ensure sufficient monies are available in safes for the relevant areas
- To be involved in any events and functions, preparation and set up in conjunction with service delivery.
- To maintain minimum stock levels in the department and report any stock requirements to the Bars Supervisor / Management whether food or drinks.
- To be familiar and competent with all IT and operating systems eg: TV’s and screening of sports etc
- To report defective equipment and /or dangerous incidents to the Bars Supervisor
- To ensure compliance with licensing laws, HACCP documentation and health and safety regulations
- To be responsible for any keys issued to you as part of your shift and ensure procedures regarding security of these are adhered to at all times.
- To assist staff from other departments as required and any other duties that may be expected by the Bars and Food & Beverage Management.

Qualifications/Knowledge/Experience
- Barista Coffee / Cocktail experience (preferred)
- Licensed Premises training and awareness
- Elementary Food Hygiene training
- Cash and stock handling in bar / hospitality environment
- Previous Customer Service experience

Hours of Work

Zero hours casual contract, shifts may day, evening or weekend

No additional payments or allowances and no contractual entitlement to overtime.

Rate of Pay

£9.90 per hour
