Miserden Estate is looking for a reliable groundsperson to work across multiple departments in a diverse, family-run rural estate. The individual will be responsible for ensuring the estate’s outdoor areas around the village of Miserden are tidy and well-presented. The individual should be organised, have a broad range of craftmanship and good practical skills, be willing to work across a wide diversity of tasks and take pride in their work. The role provides the opportunity to work with the property maintenance, garden and forestry departments, so reliability, communication skills and a good team ethos are all important.
The role would suit someone with more experience who would enjoy the autonomy and diversity of the role or a young individual who is keen to gain experience across multiple elements of the estate.
**Responsibilities include**:
- Grass cutting and general outdoor maintenance of the grounds around the estate owned village ensuring the village is always looking as smart as possible
- Assist the property maintenance team with ad hoc maintenance work on the estate’s residential and commercial buildings, including fixing property defects, decorating, etc.
- Movement of woodchip supply and regular cleaning and maintenance of boilers on a large biomass district heating scheme.
- General maintenance on the estate including stock fencing repair, drains, pathways/roadways, etc.
- Gardening the vacant estate-owned residential properties.
- Assist with grass cutting, cutting yew hedges and other ad hoc tasks in the main garden.
- Occasional assistance with the estate’s livestock enterprises, e.g. moving sheep, animal feeding, etc.
- Opportunity to assist the forestry department with felling and cross-cutting.
- Other ad hoc tasks around the estate, e.g. vehicle cleaning, tidying working areas.
The estate has a ‘one team’ approach, so while the individual suited for this role must be happy to work alone and be self-motivated, this role will epitomise this ethos, where flexibility, communication and working with multiple teams will be key
