Your mission as a Master Technician is to be the focal point in the garages for technical issues and diagnostic problems, forming the interface between engineers and the Engineering Director.
You will be responsible for diagnostics, repairs and advice on engines, gearboxes, axles, and electrical faults including body systems. At times you may be required to assist with training and to carryout investigations.
Chelmsford garage will be the base location for administrative purposes, however this is a fully mobile role with extensive travel requirements. There may be extensive periods of training requiring overnight stays within the UK, including NI.
You will be required to train to a NVQ level 4 and affiliated to Society of Engineers, and being able to reach the Engineering Technician status.

**What will you be doing?**
- To be the first point of contact for in-depth engineering fault finding and repairs on specific vehicle types.
- Carry out diagnostic tests on a wide range of company vehicles and equipment.
- Advise the Engineering Manager on technical issues within the garage.
- Draft reports on the performance and failure of engines, gearboxes, axles and electrics
- Carry out projects/trials on behalf of the Engineering Director
- Develop and foster good working relationships with engineers and other grades.
- Develop and maintain effective communication and relationships with chassis and body manufacturers, DVSA
**Essential Criteria**:
- Minimum qualification of NVQ3 standard.
- In depth technical knowledge of major components fitted to Company fleet. - Skilled in the use of IT systems, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Full understanding/appreciation of the terms and condition of the Company Operating Licence. - Willingness to adapt and update skills and attend training courses.

- Flexibility to change priorities and resources quickly to meet the needs of the garage.

- Works to understand customer needs to meet and exceed expectations.
**Hours of work**:
- The Master Technician will be required to work a range of shifts in line with the particular needs of the garages.
- The working week runs from Sunday to Saturday and comprises of 39 hours, rest days will be rostered each week. Rosters may include some weekend and bank holiday work where required.
