Employment Specialist and Ips Clinical Lead

Taunton, United Kingdom Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Full time

We are growing our Mental Health Employment Support Service due to new funding and the successful implementation of the evidence based Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model. We are expanding from one team, to two teams. We are passionate and dedicated mental health professionals, supporting people who want to work and are accessing secondary mental health services. If you are keen to make a real difference in peoples’ lives, this could be the role for you.

Employment that suits an individual can be integral to their recovery and life transforming. We are looking for a registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker who shares this view as passionately as we do. Significant clinical mental health experience and the ability to lead, inspire optimism, and supervise others are essential. However, you do not need to be a fully developed Employment Specialist to apply. You will work with an experienced mentor, and training in the Individual Placement and Support model will be provided.

As an organisation, the NHS offers a wide range of benefits including flexible working, fantastic pension contributions, market leading annual leave allowance, career progression and regular conversations, not to mention our Blue Light Card and NHS exclusive discounts.

The benefits of working in Somerset include the idyllic countryside, with our areas of outstanding beauty and stunning coastlines. You will get to enjoy these perks whilst still only being a stone’s throw away from bustling city centres like Bristol, Bath and Exeter and only two hours away from London.

There are excellent educational facilities in the area and, when compared to other regions, house prices are reasonable. You will to experience the best of both in Somerset, the countryside and the cosmopolitan - there is truly something for everyone

We are proud to be the Winner of the “Mental Health Trust of the Year” category in the “Health Service Journal” Awards 2021

1000+ entries and 204 finalists

136 judges and 2 judging stages

This rewarding role will be to provide clinical leadership and supervision for a small team of IPS Job Coaches, to ensure collaborative risk assessment and management is in place, and to liaise with employers. It will also be to carry a small caseload of service users with complex needs using the IPS model to support them through all stages of their employment journey, including in-work support after they start their new job.

You will work in close partnership with the IPS Clinical Lead for the East and the Employment Support Service Manager. Access to the IPS Community of Practice, support networks and training are integral to the role.

We welcome enquiries and visits if you are considering applying.
