LARA Search is seeking an experienced and passionate Head of English to join an outstanding special school in Wallington. The school caters to students between the ages of 7 and 18 years old who have a wide range of ability levels and additional learning needs, including complex needs. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the English department and inspire the students to achieve their full potential.

As the Head of English, you will be responsible for teaching English to students of all ages and abilities, as well as overseeing the work of other English teachers. You will be a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, working with colleagues to develop and implement strategies to enhance the teaching and learning of English across the school.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Teach English to students of all ages and abilities.
- Lead and manage the English department, including supporting and developing other teachers.
- Work collaboratively with senior leaders, teachers, and support staff to develop and implement strategies to enhance the teaching and learning of English across the school.
- Monitor and evaluate the progress of students, and provide regular feedback to staff, students, and parents.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues on effective teaching strategies.
- Work in partnership with parents, carers, and external agencies to support the progress of students.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Experience of teaching English in a special school setting.
- Experience of leading and managing a team of teachers.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality.
- A passion for supporting students to achieve their full potential.
- A commitment to continuing professional development.

**Desirable Criteria**:

- A relevant postgraduate qualification.
- A track record of delivering outstanding outcomes for students.
- Experience working with students with additional needs.
