Operations and Managing Editorial Assistant

Wandsworth, United Kingdom Penguin Books Limited Full time

Do people look to you to Get Stuff Done? Do you have a knack for organisation, a love of problem solving and are you a natural multi-tasker with a keen eye for detail?

We’re looking for an organised and proactive assistant to join our Operations and Managing Editorial team on a fixed-term contract basis for approximately 10 months.

As part of the wider Penguin Random House Children’s division, Operations supports the creative teams and processes that underpin our business, making sure that all the teams are on track to get a book published, available online and in stores with all of the right information to market them well.

This role will primarily support the Editorial and Design teams, but also work closely with Marketing, Rights, Sales, Publishing Operations and Finance, so you’ll be someone comfortable working with a wide range of people on a regular basis.

You’ll be responsible for things like ensuring our internal information is accurate and up-to-date, ready to share with retailers who sell our books online and in store across the world, as well as making sure our suppliers and freelancers get paid on time. You’ll also organise key departmental meetings; pull together presentation packs and reports; agendas; minutes; and coordinate diaries.

What you’ll get in return is a collaborative team that will give you the opportunity to work across the full breadth of the Children’s division and publishing, developing a detailed understanding of how the Publishing industry works. This is an excellent opportunity to kick start your career in Publishing.

**How to apply**

If you’re ready to join the Operations and Managing Editorial team as our Assistant, then please submit your CV and a Cover Letter by **Thursday 26th May.**

As part of your cover letter, we’d like for you to answer the following question (in no more than 200 words):

- What are the top three things you take into consideration when prioritising your workload?_

All interviews will be conducted virtually in early June. We are currently working flexibly but the role is based at our new Embassy Gardens office in Nine Elms (SW11 7BW).

**What you can expect from us**:
**Salary**: You‘ll start on £24,000. Expect a £1,000 increase on your first anniversary in this role and a further £1,000 on your second to reflect your growing contribution.

Our employees are the heart of our business. We have a range of benefits to reflect our commitment to our employees, some of which are:

- 27 days paid holiday entitlement in year one (plus bank holidays), increasing a day each year up to 30 days
- Medical cover
- Life assurance
- Cycle to Work scheme
- Discounted gym membership
- Generous pension scheme
- Summer working hours (role dependent)
- Volunteering policy and charity matching
- Employee Assistance programme
- Mentoring programme
- Extended gender neutral parental leave
- 60% Discount on Company books
- Each site has trained mental health first aiders
- We plant a tree for every new employee to our business

**Our creativity is inspired by different perspectives, so we want our culture to be one of belonging, where everyone feels welcome and where differences are celebrated.**

Please note, we are not able to accept agency CVs for this role. Any CVs sent speculatively will not be eligible for a fee.
