Job Overview

We are seeking a reliable and caring Domestic Assistant to join our team in a warm and supportive 15-bed residential care home. This role plays an important part in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment while also contributing positively to residents' wellbeing through daily engagement and activities.

The role is Monday to Friday and includes approximately two hours of domestic cleaning duties and one hour per day supporting activities with residents. This position supports our commitment to CQC standards, including infection prevention, dignity, safety, and person-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

Domestic and Infection Control Duties (approx. 2 hours daily):

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the care home, including bedrooms, bathrooms, and communal areas
  • Carry out cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, vacuuming, and sanitising surfaces
  • Follow infection prevention and control procedures in line with care home policies
  • Ensure cleaning products are used safely and stored correctly
  • Replenish toiletries and cleaning supplies as required
  • Dispose of waste safely in accordance with environmental and care home guidelines
  • Identify and report maintenance issues, hazards, or concerns promptly
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies at all times

Resident Engagement and Wellbeing (approx. 1 hour daily):

  • Support and engage residents in meaningful daily activities such as conversation, games, crafts, or group activities
  • Promote residents' dignity, independence, and emotional wellbeing
  • Encourage social interaction in a respectful, person-centred manner
  • Work alongside care staff to ensure residents feel safe, valued, and included

Skills and Experience

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and hygiene
  • Friendly, compassionate, and respectful approach when working with residents
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Reliable, organised, and professional attitude
  • Physically able to undertake cleaning duties, including bending and standing
  • Experience in a care home or similar setting is desirable but not essential as training will be provided

Compliance and Safeguarding

  • All duties must be carried out in accordance with CQC regulations, care home policies, and safeguarding procedures
  • An enhanced DBS check will be required
  • Applicants must uphold confidentiality and respect residents' rights at all times

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From £12.50 per hour
