Senior DevOps Engineer – Azure | Up to £70,000 basic | Milton Keynes | Flexible Working

You'll be a central Senior DevOps Engineer responsible for designing, building, and maintaining highly available Azure cloud services and deployment environments. Your expertise will directly empower delivery teams and advance the DevOps practices that enable the organisation to help millions achieve financial stability.

What You'll Do:

  • Cloud Infrastructure Leadership: Lead the design, build, and maintenance of resources in Azure cloud using Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including Terraform.
  • Deployment & Automation: Lead the design and development of deployment pipelines and automation solutions using Azure and open-source tooling.
  • Process Optimisation: Continuously analyse DevOps processes to identify opportunities for further automation and refinement of deployment practices.
  • Standards & Collaboration: Work collaboratively in an agile environment, ensuring the implementation of services meets Government Digital Service (GDS) standards.
  • Quality & Guidance: Conduct peer reviews of IaC and mentor/provide guidance to DevOps and Software Developers. You'll also lead technical discussions.

What You'll Bring (Essential Skills):

  • Azure Cloud Expertise: Highly experienced working with a range of Azure Cloud Services, including API Management and function apps.
  • IaC Proficiency: Experience in provisioning and managing infrastructure through IaC (e.g., Bicep, Terraform).
  • Pipeline Optimisation: Demonstrable experience in the build and optimisation of pipelines (ideally in Azure DevOps).
  • Coding Background: Experience in a language such as Python, Java, C#, JavaScript, React, or PowerShell.
  • Agile Collaboration: Experience working within an agile development team and productively collaborating with design, testing, product, and other digital delivery colleagues.
  • Engineering Commitment: A demonstrable commitment to high-quality, cost-effective, and robust engineering practices.
