About Us
Stepping Stones Care provides therapeutic residential care for children and young people who have experienced trauma, neglect, and loss. Our practice is trauma-informed, relationship-based, and clinically guided. We believe in creating stable, nurturing environments where both young people and staff can grow and heal.
The Role
We're seeking a qualified Therapist (counsellor/psychotherapist/psychologist) to join our expanding Clinical Team, providing therapeutic support to our children and young people, as well as reflective spaces for our staff teams. Based in Romford, this role involves being in our Children's Home one day per week, working closely with our therapeutic practitioners, Manager and Clinical Lead.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individual therapeutic sessions with our young people.
- Contribute to assessments, formulations and care planning alongside our multidisciplinary team.
- Offer staff reflective practice and guidance around trauma-informed approaches.
- Maintain accurate, timely records in line with clinical governance standards.
- Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
About You
You'll be a reflective, emotionally resilient practitioner with experience in trauma and attachment-based work. You understand the complexity of therapeutic work in residential care and can hold the balance between clinical professionalism and relational warmth.
Essential Requirements:
- Recognised qualification in Applied Psychology / Counselling / Psychotherapy.
- Accredited with BACP, UKCP, BPS or equivalent body.
- Experience working with children or young people, ideally in care or education settings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to safeguarding and ethical practice.
Desirable:
- Experience offering staff support or reflective practice.
- Training in trauma-informed approaches – DDP, PACE.
- Training in / experience of using DBT in individual work.
