GVG ) is an expanding consultancy delivering asset management and maintenance solutions to clients across the UK. We bring together technical engineering capability and practical delivery on site. We are now looking for an Asset Management Consultant to support our growing project portfolio.
This role is ideal for someone with a foundation in engineering or physical asset management who wants to work across multiple clients, solve real operational problems and take ownership of workstreams in a fast-paced consultancy environment.
Our Head Office is in Llandeilo, but our engineers are based across South Wales (and beyond) with a second office in Port Talbot.
The Role
We are looking for a Human Factors Consultant / Organisational Transformation Specialist to support clients across manufacturing, heavy industry and energy sectors. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of people, systems, maintenance, safety and organisational design.
About the role
As a key member of our consulting team, you will help clients strengthen their maintenance and operational performance by applying human factors principles, behavioural science and organisational development expertise. You will work on projects that improve safety, efficiency, competency, culture, leadership and ways of working across maintenance, engineering and frontline teams.
You will:
- Lead and support human factors and organisational assessments across maintenance, manufacturing and energy environments
- Analyse work processes, behaviours and organisational structures to identify improvement opportunities
- Facilitate workshops, observations, interviews and engagement sessions on-site with engineering and maintenance teams
- Support the development of new operating models, roles, competencies and organisational structures
- Design and deliver interventions that enhance human performance, safety culture and operational reliability
- Produce clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations for clients
- Support change programmes including new processes, behavioural improvements, leadership capability, communication and culture transformation
- Work closely with clients to embed sustainable improvements in ways of working, competence, risk awareness and decision making
- Collaborate with our internal consultants on asset management, maintenance strategy, competency development and operational excellence programmes
About you
We are looking for someone with human factors and organisational development experience, ideally in asset-intensive or safety-critical industries such as manufacturing, energy, utilities, transport or heavy engineering.
You will bring:
- Experience in human factors, organisational psychology, organisational development or behavioural safety (ideally at least three years in these fields)
- Strong knowledge of maintenance, engineering or operational environments (or experience consulting into them)
- Understanding of human reliability, safety culture, risk perception, competency frameworks or human performance improvement
- Experience leading workshops, interviews, observations and change initiatives
- Ability to turn complex issues into clear insights and practical recommendations
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills at all levels
- Credibility working with technical teams, frontline staff and senior leaders
- A proactive, hands-on and collaborative approach
- Willingness to travel to client sites across the UK
Desirable:
- Chartered ergonomist, HFE specialist, occupational psychologist, or similar accreditation
- Experience in maintenance transformation, operating model design, process improvement or behavioural programmes
- Exposure to ISO 55000, maintenance strategies, or high-risk industry regulations
