Department: Hospitality and Catering

Report to: Deputy Hotel Operations Manager

Salary: Competitive salary plus attractive staff benefits.

Hours: We are recruiting for 2 Night Porter positions:

1) 36 hours per week, working 4 days from 7.

2) 27 hours per week, working 3 days from 7.

Shifts are worked 10:00pm to 7:30am. Flexibility with weekly working patterns is essential, and weekend working will be required.

Location: Tynecastle Park Hotel, McLeod Street, Edinburgh, EH11 2NL

Tynecastle Park Hotel is a unique hotel in Edinburgh which is located within Tynecastle Park Stadium, the home of Heart of Midlothian Football Club. The hotel is the first of its kind in the UK, being solely owned and run by the football club.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Night Porter to join the team. The Night Porter will assist with guest services, maintaining overnight hotel security and safety, ensuring public areas are cleaned to a high standard and setting up breakfast and meeting rooms for the following day. If you have previous experience in a similar role within the hotel industry, are passionate about guest experience and are confident with night security and safety procedures – we would love to hear from you

Night Porter Responsibilities:

• Provide a warm and professional welcome to guests arriving or departing overnight.
• Assist guests with luggage, directions, and any special requests.
• Handle late check-ins, early check-outs, and basic front desk duties as required.
• Respond promptly and effectively to any guest issues or emergencies.
• Maintain the security of the premises, regularly patrolling public areas, entrances, and emergency exits.
• Ensure cleanliness and tidiness of public areas, including reception, corridors, and restrooms.
• Set up breakfast areas or meeting rooms for morning service.
• Work closely with other departments to ensure smooth handover for the morning shift.
• Complete night audit and general administrative tasks.

Essential Experience, Skills & Criteria:

• Previous Night Porter or similar experience, preferably in the Hotel industry.
• Passionate about delivering exceptional guest experience.
• Strong computer skills, proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Able to work independently, and confident in handling guest incidents or emergencies overnight.
• Conscientious and committed to attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Flexibility with weekly working patterns.
• Able to evidence the Legal Right to Work in the UK.
