Job Purpose:

As a Cook you will be responsible for delivering a service to residents that is of a high quality and meets their dietary needs. To deliver a service within agreed budgets and use resources appropriately. To follow food safety standards and health and safety requirements.

Key Accountabilities:

· Delivering a catering service.

· Control and maintain kitchen stock, equipment, and resources within budget.

· Compliance with food hygiene and health and safety standards.

· Identify and report any signs of abuse.

· Escalate concerns / issues as appropriate.

Knowledge and Understanding:

· Food safety standards.

· Health and safety legislation including control of substances harmful to health (COSHH).

· Basic knowledge of dietary requirements for older people and medical

· Conditions and the impact of food types on medication.

· Safe use of knives and kitchen equipment.

Skills:

· Basic computer knowledge.

· Ability to organise time and prioritise activities.

· Negotiation and influencing skills.

· Innovative.

· Ability to work in a pressured environment.

· Ability to work as part of a team and individually.

· Ability to produce meals based on menu's implemented.

Experience and Qualification:

· Proven cooking experience with a recognised catering qualification.

· Intermediate or Level 3 food hygiene certificate.

Key Activities:

· Prepare, cook and serve appetising and nutritional meals, snacks and drinks to residents.

· Implement seasonal menus in consultation with residents.

· Adhere the catering budget and operate services within it.

· Manage kitchen stock and purchase food in line with the purchasing procedure.

· Meet new residents on admission to understand their specific dietary requirements, and regularly meet residents and their families to discuss the catering service.

· Work with the team to understand individual care needs and meet the nutritional requirements of residents.

· Assist in marketing the home by working with staff to provide catering support at marketing events.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: £13.34 per hour
