Contract: Fixed term / Secondment with line management approval (12-months)
Hours of work: 36 hours per week
Location: Civic centre and other locations from time to time

The Post
This is an exciting opportunity to oversee a portfolio of community projects that directly improve local infrastructure, strengthen neighbourhood identity, and support inclusive community growth across Brent. The Programme Manager will ensure that the community grants including NCIL funding delivers meaningful and measurable impact for residents, aligning with Council priorities and community aspirations.
This role offers the opportunity to make a tangible difference by helping to deliver projects that enhance local neighbourhoods and improve residents' quality of life.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead the end-to-end management of the Community Grants programme including NCIL programme, project assessment, commissioning, and delivery.
- Oversee financial management, monitoring, and reporting to ensure transparency and value for money.
- Build strong relationships with residents, community organisations, and internal services to ensure joined-up delivery.
- Provide guidance and capacity-building support to community groups applying for Community grant funding.
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations for senior officers, CMT, PCG, Cabinet, and committees.
- Manage and maintain the programme dashboard to ensure accurate, up to date reporting on project progress, performance and outcomes.
The Person
You are a confident and organised programme manager with strong stakeholder management and critical thinking skills. You combine strategic thinking with practical delivery and thrive in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience managing multi-stakeholder programmes or projects, ideally within local government or community development.
- Strong financial acumen and the ability to oversee complex budgets.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
- Experience supporting community engagement and capacity building.
- Ability to work collaboratively across teams to deliver shared objectives.
