Position Overview
The Fitter/Machinist plays a vital role in the assembly and machining of RoBAT Ltd. precision electrical test machines. This hands-on position requires a high level of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality. Working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, the Fitter Machinist contributes to the production of complex mechanical systems while continuously developing their technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Assembles and fits mechanical components and sub-assemblies for robotic test machines with precision and care
- Operates milling machines, lathes, and other workshop equipment to manufacture high-quality parts
- Reads and interprets technical drawings and assembly instructions to ensure accurate builds
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety standards
- Collaborates with team members to troubleshoot mechanical issues and enhance machine performance
- Performs detailed assembly and fitting tasks requiring fine motor skills and dexterity, particularly for small and intricate components
- Supports machine upgrades, modifications, and customizations as needed
Experience and Qualifications
- Qualified machinist/fitter with proven hands-on experience in mechanical assembly and fitting
- Basic understanding of mechanical engineering principles and manufacturing processes
- Proficient in the use of hand tools, measuring instruments, and standard workshop techniques
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality workmanship
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment
- Effective problem-solving skills and a proactive, can-do attitude
- Prior experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or engineering setting is highly desirable
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, evolving industry

Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
