About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Psychologist to join our specialist team supporting children and young people within secure and high-risk environments. This is a consultative, non-caseload-heavy role, offering the opportunity to shape practice, influence service development, and support multidisciplinary teams working with young people who have experienced complex trauma.

Working across sites in the Shrewsbury region, you will provide expert psychological insight, guidance, and consultation to teams supporting youth offenders, children at risk of sexual exploitation, and young people within prison or secure settings. You will play a key part in embedding trauma-informed, psychologically-led approaches across services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver expert psychological consultation, formulation, and guidance to staff teams.
  • Advise on complex cases involving forensic risk, sexual trauma, exploitation, and youth offending.
  • Support the development of trauma-informed practice in secure or custodial environments.
  • Provide reflective practice sessions and contribute to service improvement.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies.
  • Undertake occasional assessments where needed.

About You To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist (Clinical, Counselling, or Forensic).
  • Experience working with children and young people in challenging or secure settings (e.g., prisons, youth offending services, exploitation services).
  • Strong background in forensic, trauma, or sexual trauma specialisms (highly desirable).
  • Confidence in delivering consultation, formulation, and psychologically-informed advice.
  • Ability to travel across local centres (car allowance provided).
  • A proactive, reflective, and resilient approach to complex work.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary up to £65,000
  • Car allowance for travel to regional centres
  • Hybrid working – maintain work–life balance with 3 days from home
  • Professional development and opportunities for specialist training
  • Supportive, values-led environment
