Role Summary
In this role you will primarily work 1-2-1 with adult clients who have experienced trauma, your role is to work with them short-term over 12 sessions providing a focused therapy based in phase 1 of the tri-phase model. You may have the opportunity (funding dependent) to also work longer term with 1-2-1 clients depending on your training this may be in phase 1 or 2/3 of the tri-phase model.
As an experienced Counsellor, you will provide mentoring where required for newly qualified Counsellors and other team members.
You will work remotely (online via video) and in person, based in Welwyn Garden City, and other satellite locations in Hertfordshire.
Salary
: £24, £18.31 per hour) - £25,688 (£19 per hour)
Our Ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will join a dynamic team of Counsellors, Lived Experience Facilitators and Operations members. You will have a desire to mentor Counsellors in Training and other less experienced Counsellors and enjoy taking an active role in peer support and development.
You will have training and experience of supporting adults who have experienced sexual, domestic or relational trauma and be able to relate to their experiences.
You will also have knowledge of links between trauma and substance use.
You will embrace short term phase 1 trauma work and understand the importance of providing safe, accessible phase 1 trauma focused therapy.
Responsibilities
- Provide 1-2-1 counselling sessions to clients in a safe and supportive environment.
- Provide time limited trauma-focused-therapy for clients who have experienced sexual violence following a focused programme.
- Provide general counselling as required.
- Mentor newly qualified Counsellors and other team members.
- Maintain accurate records of client progress and interventions.
- Participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.
- Act where necessary to safeguard clients following TRCIC policies and procedures.
- Commit to and work from a trauma-informed perspective, adhering to anti-discriminatory practice.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of our services.
- Work within the ethical guidance of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).
- Work within agreed boundaries, maintaining Trauma Recovery CIC values.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant qualification in counselling or psychotherapy at a minimum level 4 (e.g., diploma or degree).
- Minimum 3 years in practice since qualifying as a Counsellor (3 years of consistently working as a Counsellor)
- Experience of working both in person and online
- Held MNCPS (or equivalent) and in good standing for at least 1 year
- Recognised and certified trauma training
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect with diverse clients
- Relevant personal lived experience is preferred
- Familiarity with IT systems for record-keeping and reporting is preferred
- Leadership experience is a plus but not mandatory
- A compassionate approach with a commitment to supporting trauma survivors.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Shifts
This is NOT a 9-5 role, the shift pattern is detailed below. Shifts enable the team to work together, with a team meeting at the beginning and end of each shift, due to this we are not able to offer flexibility on the timings of the shifts.
The ideal candidate will work 26 hours across 4 days per week:
- Monday: 10am-5pm
- Tuesday: 9am-4pm
- Thursday: 1pm-8pm
- Friday: 9am-4pm
*For the right candidate there is the possibility of offering a 5 day position (Wednesday: 10.30am-5.30pm), however this is funding dependent.
