Nursery Teaching Assistant

Salary: £13.05 per hour (£25,185) 

Hours of work: Part Time (32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes Teacher Training days

Contract type: Fixed Term until 17th July 2026

We are an open and inclusive primary school, educating children between the ages of 5 and 11 years. Our nursery is open to children aged 3 to 4 years and is where our youngest pupils begin their educational journey. Located in the garrison town of Larkhill, Wiltshire, our setting aims to spark interest, ignite a passion for learning and fire up ambition to inspire every child to recognise and exceed expectations. Our staff provide a challenging, yet nurturing, environment based on our Christian values and we are committed to learning outside the classroom, as much as inside; with regular trips planned and visitors invited in to help make the learning relevant and linked to both our local community and the wider world. All about the role:

St Michael's Church of England Primary School is looking to appoint a motivated and energetic Teaching Assistant to work within its nursery provision and provide support to its young learners, starting as soon as possible. A relevant NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in children's care and learning is essential for the role.

As a Teaching Assistant within our nursery, you will be a pro-active Early Years Professional able to inspire and excite young, curious minds and ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality education and care for all our children. 

We are looking for someone who: 

• Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children;
• Has strong interpersonal and communication skills and is able to work with a variety of pupils, staff and parents, including our existing and incoming military families;
• Has experience of working with pre-school age children;
• Has a relevant level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in children's care and learning;
• Has a current First Aid or is prepared to undertake training;
• Has superb attention to detail and organisational skills;
• Is self-motivated dedicated and consistent;
• Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
• Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative;
• Has a positive and flexible attitude and can demonstrate a warm and caring approach with children.
