About the Role:
My client are seeking an experienced
Senior Planner
to join our team in
Motherwell
, supporting the successful planning and delivery of civil engineering projects across Scotland and the wider UK. You will play a key role in the development, management, and control of project programmes, working closely with project teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven planning professional to be involved in major infrastructure and construction works, contributing to high-profile civil engineering schemes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage detailed construction programmes using Primavera P6 and/or MS Project.
- Provide planning support at all stages of the project lifecycle, from tender through to delivery and completion.
- Liaise with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to develop fully integrated project plans.
- Analyse and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents to inform programme development.
- Monitor project progress against key milestones, identifying potential delays and implementing mitigation strategies.
- Prepare regular progress reports, dashboards, and planning updates for internal and external stakeholders.
- Attend site meetings and interface with operational teams to verify progress and support live planning.
- Support delay analysis, extension of time claims, and forensic planning when required.
- Mentor and support junior planners where appropriate.
Requirements:
Essential:
- Proven experience in a planning role within the
civil engineering
or infrastructure sector. - Proficiency in
Primavera P6 - Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing, and logistics.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to site locations when required.
Desirable:
- Degree/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Experience in NEC or other major contract forms.
- Working knowledge of 4D planning and BIM integration is advantageous.
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., APM, CIOB, ICE) preferred.
