Purpose of the Role

  • Support the Clearing Manager in the day to day management of BB Energy's clearing accounts across the firm's Oil and European Power & Gas businesses, including; reconciliation, clearing account administration, margin and collateral management.

Accountabilities/Key Result Areas

Reconciliation

  • Daily reconciliation between ETRM position and clearing statements.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between internal systems, brokers, and clearinghouses.
  • Monthly reconciliation between brokerage invoices and fees accrued in our trading systems.

Clearing Account management

  • Monitor trade status and resolve unmatched or failed trades with brokers, exchanges, and internal teams.
  • Daily administration of clearing account limits, permissions and trade movements between accounts.
  • Set up new Tri Party accounts between our financing banks and clearing partners.
  • Onboarding/offboarding users with exchanges and brokers.

Margin & Collateral Management

  • Monitor daily margin requirements and collateral postings with clearinghouses.
  • Coordinate with Treasury and Risk teams to ensure adequate liquidity coverage.

Futures Expiry

  • Futures expiry rundown: liaise externally with clearing partners and internally with traders and risk to ensure all exposures are flat ahead of expiry.
  • Monitor exposure v expiry limits.

Risk & Compliance

  • Monitor adherence to regulatory guidelines and internal policies for exchange-traded products notably EU (EMIR, MiFID, FCA) and US (Dodd Frank, CFTC).
  • Support audits and regulatory inquiries by providing timely and accurate information.

Process Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to streamline clearing processes, enhance controls, and leverage automation.
  • Partner with Technology, Middle Office, and Risk to improve efficiency and reduce operational risk.

Skills and experience

Essential:

  • 2+ years' experience in a similar role (broker, clearer, commodity trader, investment bank, hedge fund).
  • Good understanding of exchange traded derivatives products

Preferable:

  • Worked with Symphony and/or Orchestrade ETRM.
  • Experience working with SQL or other coding languages.
  • Knowledge of regulatory risk requirements
