The Role

We're looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to step into a Client Portfolio Manager role. You'll take ownership of your own portfolio, acting as the main contact for clients, delivering a mix of accounts preparation, corporation tax, VAT, self-assessment returns, and management accounts.

This is an ideal role for either:

  • An existing Client Manager in practice looking for a fresh challenge, or
  • A strong Senior Accountant ready to step up into portfolio management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review statutory accounts, management accounts, and tax returns.
  • Advise on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Build strong relationships as the trusted client manager.
  • Review and support junior staff with their work.
  • Work confidently with cloud accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent) and CCH.

About You

  • 5+ years' accountancy practice experience.
  • ACA/ACCA qualified or QBE with solid technical background.
  • Strong knowledge of accounts preparation, tax compliance, and VAT.
  • Great communication skills — comfortable explaining accounts to non-accountants.
  • Organised, proactive, and a natural relationship builder.
