Our team is building a dynamic network to meet the changing demands for electricity and increasingly, renewable electricity – safely, securely and sustainably in the communities we serveAt SP Energy Networks, we know people are central to building a better future, quicker and we are seeking new talent to join our team.What you'll be doingAs Substation Inspector you should ensure Transmission sub-stations and Grid Supply Point 11kV – 400kV are inspected for defects by carrying out inspection in accordance with sub-station inspection scheme.This is an excellent opportunity to be working outdoors in the fresh air, on a variety of terrains, planning your workload within set working hours or flexible working hours. It would suit someone with a general engineering or electrical maintenance background and who is now interested in working in the compliance side of the BusinessYou will be contributing as an effective member of Transmission OHL and Substations Maintenance team while undertaking routine inspection in accordance with inspection programme and inspection checklist e.g. fences, compound, building, batteries, to ensure substation security and various other activities and undertaking general tidying work.Take remedial action on certain defects e.g. fence repairs, signage, etc. Excludes work on live equipment. Take readings from all sub-station equipment i.e. transformers, voltage transformers and strive to eliminate customer complaints as an on-site representative of the companyWhat you'll bringAbility to read cable pressure and relate to min/max pressure levels for cables.Ability to take readings and carry out checks on all items on inspection schedule e.g. circuit breakers/transformers/ fencing/building.Ability to undertake basic repairs to fences (replace missing plates etc)Attention to detail to complete checks with accuracy and consistencyAwareness of Health & Safety RequirementsComputer LiterateFull driver's License (essential)What's in it for you As well as a competitive salary which is reviewed annually, you can also enjoy a number of other benefits.
