About Us
One team. Global challenges. Infinite opportunities. At Viasat, we're on a mission to deliver connections with the capacity to change the world. For more than 35 years, Viasat has helped shape how consumers, businesses, governments and militaries around the globe communicate. We're looking for people who think big, act fearlessly, and create an inclusive environment that drives positive impact to join our team.
What You'll Do
Reporting to the President, Viasat Commercial Services (VCS) and sitting on the VCS leadership team, the Vice President, Global Strategic Relationships is a new role, with a focus on developing a strategic, coherent and holistic approach to Viasat Commercial's activities in key target countries, including China, India, the UAE, Turkey, Japan and Brazil.
In this role, you'll have a deep understanding, as it relates to Viasat Commercial Services, the political, economic and business environment, competitive situation and influence dynamics; as the 'corporate diplomat', building and sustaining key top-down relationships with key stakeholders across these target markets and ecosystems. You'll develop long-term holistic country strategies, securing business buy-in and driving progressive execution with business leadership peers across Commercial and the wider Viasat organization; leading, directing, focusing and motivating locally based teams across the globe to enable progress in line with business objectives. You will identify business and strategic partnership opportunities and sharpen the Commercial team's win strategies and engagement. You'll successfully collaborate cross functionally with peers in the wider corporation to shape effective campaigns for strategic licensing and regulatory issues.
The day-to-day
- Strategy Development: Develop and implement joined-up country strategies for key geographies, corralling and prioritizing Viasat's interests (in respect of market access, relationships, sales pursuits, access to technology, talent or execution capability); and cohering a shared, long-term approach to drive actionable plans to support business development, delivery and growth.
- Stakeholder Management: Lead key stakeholder engagement initiatives, manage strategic relationships, build familiarity and shared understanding and foster partnerships that enable business delivery and growth; to be an effective ambassador for Viasat at the most senior levels.
- Team Leadership: Refresh, mentor and lead a geographically diverse team, setting standards, promoting an accountable, empowered, collaborative and high-performing culture in line with Viasat's values.
- Market Expansion & Business Winning: Support P&L leaders and their teams to identify, evaluate, and pursue strategic market opportunities through research, competitive analysis and focused campaign and stakeholder engagement.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner effectively with Commercial P&L leaders and their teams and with Engineering and Global Operations to shape engagement strategies, communications, branding, market intelligence, sales, execution, technology and operations to create joined-up strategies and enhance decision-making.
- Partnership, M&A & Inorganic Growth: Collaborate with the wider Commercial team to identify and contribute to the development and execution of inorganic growth strategies through mergers, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
What You'll Need
- 15+ years of senior-level experience in global business development, international leadership, or diplomacy.
- Established credibility engaging with senior government officials, investors, and international partners and regulatory entities.
- Strategic and analytical strength with a global perspective; able to translate complex market and geopolitical trends into clear business direction.
- Proven success leading high-performing, geographically dispersed teams in a matrixed environment.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills across cultures and stakeholder groups.
- Strong commercial judgment and ability to align strategic priorities with business outcomes.
- Ability to understand regional nuances and local drivers, aligning market development activities with strategic goals and operating with pace and agility to deliver optimal commercial outcomes.
- High integrity, adaptability, and resilience in dynamic global markets.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed to meet customers, partners, dispersed team members and other stakeholders.
What Will Help You On The Job
