The Role

As Second in English, you will work closely with the Head of Department, and colleagues to lead the development of outstanding teaching and learning across the English team. You will play a pivotal role in raising achievement at both Key Stages, supporting colleagues to improve practice, and inspiring a love of literature and language in all students.

  • Is passionate about curriculum development, assessment, and intervention strategies.

  • Is committed to continuous professional development and whole-school improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and embed a vision for English teaching that ensures consistently high standards.
  • Support the implementation of key performance indicators at KS3 and KS4.
  • Lead on effective assessment and intervention strategies to ensure all students make progress.
  • Coordinate inspiring extracurricular and enrichment opportunities in English.
  • Take on a whole-school development responsibility (to be confirmed).
