Property, Housing & Legal Aid Contract Caseworkers with Advocacy Experience
Hillary Cooper Law is looking for an experienced Property, Housing & General Legal Aid Caseworker to provide housing advice & Legal Aid contracted work under Legal Aid and inter-party work.
To be successful in this role it is essential that you have good experience and working knowledge of Housing, Debt Welfare, Judicial Review, Discrimination, CAPA law and general litigation.
You will have demonstrated at least one years evidence based experience
in dealing with mortgage repossession cases, rent arrears cases, homelessness reviews appeals, possession, unlawful eviction and disrepair claims at county court level.
Advocacy skills are necessary.
Ideally, you will also have experience with the Legal Aid Portal (CCMS) but this is not mandatory.
You must be proactive and dedicated to delivering excellent client care while managing a busy and varied workload. You should also be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities
Representing service users and advocating at County Court. Providing legal advice, drafting Statements of Case, Liaising with external bodies such as Local Authorities, Landlords, Banks, Mortgage Lenders, Support Groups etc. Conducting Means and Merits Assessments for Legal Aid Certificates. Providing training and education to external agencies for continuous professional development (CPD).
Qualifications
Mandatory
:
Must be BPTC/BVC/ BTC, LPC trained or SQE 1 & 2 qualified. Minimum One Year's Court and Tribunal Advocacy experience. Ability and Willingness to travel around London and (South East if necessary).
Preferred but not essential
:
Knowledge of CRM such as Clio or LEAP; Knowledge of Legal Aid Portal CCMS, Advanced knowledge of Excel Spreadsheet.
