As part of our strategic growth plans and recent project awards, we are seeking to recruit an Associate Technical Director (Electrical) Building Services Engineer with a proven track record in delivering building services projects within railway environments.

Role Description:

As an Associate Technical Director (Electrical), you are a recognized specialist in your domain, providing high-level technical expertise to project teams for the successful delivery of projects across Global Excellence Centers (GECs). You possess comprehensive knowledge of electrical systems, including HT, MV, LV, and ELV, lighting, earthing and bonding, lightning protection, and fire alarm and detection systems. Your expertise extends to sustainability and renewable energies such as solar. You have substantial experience in designing complex projects, including mobility, building, and infrastructure projects across various regions. Your role involves conducting risk assessments, managing projects and teams, interfacing with other disciplines and clients, and providing solutions for complex issues. Additionally, you will be involved in bid support and reviewing estimates produced by pursuit teams, as well as training, guiding, and mentoring junior designers and team members.

Key Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead the electrical/MEPF designs for large and complex projects.
  • Review complex design deliverables for major projects involving HV, MV, LV, ELV, and related systems.
  • Perform roles as CRE and design manager, assisting design teams in finding optimal solutions to meet project requirements.
  • Participate in tender teams and provide technical advice on solutions.
  • Conduct independent technical reviews for complex projects across GECs.
  • Operate partly outside the project environment to support professional leadership within your discipline.
  • Provide guidance and direction to colleagues managing very large or complex projects.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of your area of work and engage in various complex projects.
  • Offer technical guidance to complex multi-disciplinary projects across GECs and countries.
  • Contribute to the development of expertise in your area of work.
  • Continuously improve design processes by leveraging technology to minimize risk.
  • Model Arcadis' Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) principles with a strong understanding of safe design processes.
  • Actively participate in discipline and organizational initiatives aimed at improving the organization and its people.
  • Serve as a role model for effective delegation to achieve the best outcomes for the team and organization.
  • Develop strong, collaborative relationships with the Global Business Area (GBA) to identify and resolve issues, identify business opportunities, and establish protocols to enhance provided services.
  • Understand broad business and financial metrics to drive innovation and increase the team's contribution to the successful operation of the business.
  • Innovate actively to ensure all projects contribute to sustainable development.
  • Stay informed about future trends and technologies and help implement them in projects.
  • Play a significant role in shaping the strategy within your area of work.
  • Regularly amend design processes and seek opportunities for standardization.
  • Achieve efficiency and quality improvements through automation.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • B.Tech / M.Tech/BEng/BSc in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering; MEng/MSc preferred
  • 10+ years of design experience across a variety of mobility, building, and infrastructure projects
  • Proven experience in independently leading and managing complex design projects
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) with reputed international professional bodies is preferred
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the design process, document security, and management using electronic document management systems such as SharePoint, ProjectWise, Team Binder, and BIM.
  • Demonstrated involvement and key contributions to major projects and complex designs.
  • Proven ability to produce risk assessments, technical analysis reports, or case studies.
  • Expertise in the use of industry-relevant design tools including CAD, MicroStation, BIM360, and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development and commitment to advancing technical expertise.
  • Significant contributions to team development, coaching, and training.

  • Strong understanding of Arcadis Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) principles and safe design processes.
  • Familiarity with TAW - Deliver to Results (DtR) Framework.
  • Demonstrated skills in team development, coaching, and training.
  • Expertise in budget development and financial planning.
  • Ability to achieve efficiency through automation and standardization.
  • Strong project planning and control capabilities.
  • Experience in design process improvement and process development.
  • Delivery of technical and professional training programs.
