As a Lead Project Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team that designs, develops, configuration and Verification of HVDC Control& Protection System and, drive consistent design practices, common global processes for projects implementation and provide technical solution that meets the project objectives.

The role gives an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer to expand their project management skills and personal development within an international project organisation delivering complex HVDC system.

Our Lead Project Engineers are essential to the successful executions of our projects. They provide technical leadership to other engineers and customer facing teams, they oversee each phase of the project delivery to make sure that we deliver valuable systems solutions with an excellent operational rigour.Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Lead a multidiscipline team of engineers specialising in control and protection system, automation system, HV & LV power systems, and verification & Validation ensuring the overall solution meets customer, contract, quality and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership, advice and assistance to the overall project team as appropriate including Tendering, Commissioning, Service and 3rd parties.
  • Support the Project (Engineering) Manager as required and deputise for them as and when the need arises.
  • Plan and progress all design engineering related activities including testing and commissioning for specific projects.
  • Monitor, control and manage engineering budgets, project documentation, risk management process, design reviews and quality & change control system in accordance with company guidelines.
  • Support improvement initiatives and  'cost out' plans in collaborations with teams from other business units.
  • Act as primary technical & project interface with all project stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, NPI and Product care.
  • Ensuring that all activities are efficiently and cost-effectively executed according to contract specifications, quality standards and safety requirements.
  • Manage and lead the team to successfully execute projects with adherence to the project schedule, cost and contract.
  • Lead and motivate a group of technical people.
  • Act as a problem solver and take responsibility for control & protection along with automation of HVDC solutions.
  • Day-to-day interaction with different functions and joint problem solving within the core team for efficient collaboration and continuous competency development.

To be a successful in this role, you should have:

  • Experience in an engineering & project leadership environment.
  • Experience in application engineering in one or more fields, from controls engineering, protection, automation, HVDC, and grid connected systems.
  • Experience in project execution of HVDC or similar.
  • Experience of design and system integration working on complex multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Controls & Protection of HV & LV system.
  • Experience of owning the job, making it their own, and adding value beyond.
  • Capable of leading large multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Ability to multi-task on a variety of tasks to strict time scales.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Customer-centric mind set, experience in translating customer issues / needs into profitable business solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Min Degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or Project Management & equivalent degree with suitable industry experience.
  • Significant and demonstrated years' of experience in Control & Protection system and have an advanced problem-solving skills.
  • An excellent sense of urgency and ability to identify and manage team organisational risks.
  • Proven skills in managing and leading team with an advanced technical background.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work to deadlines under pressure whilst maintaining the safety, quality, and engineering integrity of the solution.
  • Must be flexible with working hours and willing to travel globally.
