About Us

We're working with a leading auto body shop in Manchester, delivering top-quality paint and repair services for cars and commercial vehicles. They specialize in full resprays, scratch and scuff repair, classic car finishes, custom paintwork, bumper/bodywork repair, dent work, and accident restorations.

Role Overview

As a Level 3 Paint Technician Apprentice, you'll work directly under our experienced technicians, gaining hands-on experience in all facets of vehicle painting—from prepping and masking to spraying, blending, and finishing. No prior experience is needed, but you must be a grafter: someone who applies themselves wholeheartedly, works hard, and continuously seeks to learn.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare panels: sanding, cleaning, priming, and masking before paint application
  • Assist with mixing paint and matching colours using professional systems
  • Apply base coats, clear coats, and specialty finishes under guidance
  • Clean and maintain spray booths, tools, mixing rooms, and work areas
  • Keep accurate job records, including materials used and paint batches
  • Follow health & safety practices, including proper use of PPE and ventilation
  • Support senior technicians with masking, colour blending, and final detailing
  • Take feedback positively and apply lessons learned to improve quality
  • Strive for consistent, high-quality work and continuous improvement

What Makes You a "Grafter"

  • Unwavering motivation, a strong work ethic, and readiness to put in the effort
  • Eager to learn from skilled tradespeople and ask smart questions along the way
  • Reliable, punctual, and committed to getting the job done—no cutting corners
  • Resilience and grit: embracing challenges, delivering results under pressure
  • Team player who chips in and supports colleagues wherever needed

Essential Qualifications & Attributes

While no previous painting experience is required, ideal candidates will bring:

  • A strong eye for detail and a perfectionist approach to finishing work
  • Basic manual dexterity and a willingness to use tools and equipment properly
  • Good communication and a positive, team-focused attitude
