Role Summary

Rokstone Underwriting is seeking an experienced and motivated Casualty Underwriter to join our UK & Ireland team. This role will focus on underwriting and developing a portfolio of third-party liability risks, including Employers', Public, and Products Liability, with additional exposure to Professional Indemnity and other casualty lines. You will work closely with brokers and internal stakeholders to make technical underwriting decisions, develop business opportunities, and support profitable growth across the UK and Ireland casualty portfolio.

Role Accountabilities

  • Underwrite new and renewal UK & Ireland casualty risks within agreed authority limits and underwriting guidelines.
  • Evaluate risk exposures and provide tailored insurance solutions across various casualty products.
  • Support the Senior Underwriter in maintaining and growing broker relationships through regular engagement and market presence.
  • Ensure that underwriting decisions are compliant with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Assist in developing underwriting strategy, including pricing models, appetite, and product wording.
  • Keep an eye on market developments, trends, and competitor activity in the UK & Ireland casualty space.
  • Collaborate with claims, compliance, actuarial, and operations teams to maintain underwriting discipline and support cross-functional initiatives.
  • Any additional duties as assigned.

Role Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in UK casualty lines, ideally within an MGA or Lloyd's environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of Employers' Liability, Public Liability, and Products Liability.
  • Exposure to other third-party lines such as Professional Indemnity or D&O is advantageous.
  • Commercial mindset and ability to balance technical analysis with broker and client needs.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
  • Working knowledge of the UK regulatory environment (FCA/PRA).
  • Progress toward or completion of ACII or equivalent preferred.
