Rospen Industries Ltd. designs and manufactures specialist weighing, metering, and powder-handling equipment for the food, chemical, plastics, pharmaceutical and minerals sectors.

We supply everything from screw feeders and hopper systems to FIBC unloading stations, ATEX-rated equipment and fully integrated process solutions.

As the business continues to grow, we're looking to strengthen our design team with a motivated Mechanical Design Engineer who wants to develop their skills in a varied and fast-paced engineering environment.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role based at our Haslingden facility.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will work on a wide range of projects covering machinery design, process equipment, ATEX systems and bespoke engineered solutions. You'll take designs from concept through to manufacture, working closely with sales, production, operations and project management.

Your day-to-day work will include:

• Designing mechanical assemblies and complete equipment packages
• Producing detailed drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation
• Developing new concepts for R&D and product improvements
• Supporting projects through build, test and customer FAT
• Working with suppliers and internal teams to solve design and manufacturing challenges
• Ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements and customer specifications

This is a varied role where no two projects are the same — ideal for someone who enjoys problem-solving, ownership and practical engineering.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

• Experience in Mechanical Design Engineering
• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks preferred)
• Understanding of mechanical systems, fabrication, sheet metal, and machinery design
• Good engineering judgment, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a busy engineering team

Desirable:

• Experience in powder-handling, bulk solids, ATEX equipment, or process machinery
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes (machining, welding, fabrication, assembly)
• Experience creating BOMs, technical documents or project handover packs
• Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or similar
