Job Introduction
Mortgage Advice Team - District South
The job holder will work within a district team of Mortgage Advisors to provide a comprehensive mortgage advisory service to Handelsbanken customers in accordance with the Bank's Credit Policy, ensuring lending decisions are within the lending discretion awarded by the Branch Managers in the District.

Reporting to the Lead Mortgage Advisor, the Mortgage Advisor is responsible for carrying out all required regulatory aspects relating to new Regulated Mortgage Contract (RMC) cases as well as associated administrative actions. They are also responsible for undertaking other aspects relating to the lifecycle of an RMC such as interest only reviews and end of benefit cases etc...

The key stakeholders for the role are the Branch Managers, Private Banking Managers, UKBB-M, Credit, Finance, Risk, Compliance and Internal Audit.

Role
This is a hybrid role and the job holder would ideally be based within commuting distance to one of these branches:

Chichester, Guildford, Henley-On-Thames, High Wycombe, Newbury, Oxford & Abingdon, Oxford Parkway, Portsmouth, Reading, Southampton, Swindon, Winchester and Windsor and Ascot.

Main Responsibilities

  • Responsible for providing mortgage advice to Handelsbanken customers within a district.
  • Demonstrating a sound understanding of, and an ability to work within the Bank's Credit Policy, ensuring lending decisions are within the lending discretion awarded by the Branch Managers in the District.
  • The ability to interpret financial information provided by customers, evaluate lending propositions, assess & formulate risk ratings correctly and structure transactions.
  • Using the appropriate Bank systems and using the Mortgage Keeper system to complete regulated mortgage paperwork/process.
  • A demonstrable understanding of the products offered by Handelsbanken and a good understanding of competitor products, relevant industry and market driven trends.
  • Being able to demonstrate an ability to identify and offer customers on a needs basis, the appropriate Handelsbanken product/s, whilst also being able to communicate succinctly all the relevant features, benefits and risks.
  • Preparation of legal documentation for mortgages.
  • Working with the rest of the District mortgage Advisor team to ensure the highest levels of (i) customer service, and (ii) Good Administrative Order.
  • Full adherence to the RMC Responsible Lending Policy, the RMC Training & Competency Guide, The RMC Sales Process & Competence Guide. Ongoing assessment of competent mortgage observations and satisfactory file checks, liaison with Mortgage Support Team as required, to ensure adherence to the above.
  • Additional key deliverables will be considered/ discussed at PLUS discussion as part of the Wheel process.
  • Supporting Branches (when required) to manage arrears and forbearance cases.
  • Processing end of benefit (EOB) cases, contract variations, interest only reviews and later life reviews as necessary.

  • CeMAP qualified.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good understanding of the Bank's credit processes and personal customer product offering.
  • Attention to detail and a methodical approach.
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft office tools, especially Excel, Access and Power Point
  • Structured work practice and a strong sense of administrative order
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships at all levels and represent Handelsbanken effectively
  • Interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with impact with people at all levels
  • Integrity and discretion
