Our client based in Sparkford is looking for an Electronic Hardware Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be required to attend their office 2 days per week and the rest can be work from home.

The Role

As an
Electronic Hardware Engineer
, you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and testing advanced electronic systems. You'll work across the full product lifecycle — from concept and design to production and ongoing support — collaborating closely with other hardware and systems engineers to turn requirements into high-performance, reliable hardware.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and schematic capture of analogue and digital hardware
  • PCB layout for complex multi-layer boards
  • Test and fault-finding of electronic hardware
  • Firmware and FPGA design
  • Development of test processes, equipment, and validation systems
  • Through-life support, maintenance, and obsolescence management
  • Documentation and design verification

About You

You'll be an engineer with a passion for electronic design, curious about adjacent engineering disciplines, and eager to grow your expertise in a supportive environment.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Degree (2:1 or above) in Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Strong electronic design skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
  • A collaborative, proactive approach and desire to learn

Desirable experience:

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • FPGA design (VHDL) using Intel Quartus Prime or similar tools
  • Analogue circuit design and signal processing
  • PCB design using Altium Designer
  • Experience with interfaces such as Ethernet, RS232, RS485, SPI, I2C
  • Embedded software development in C/C++
  • Experience transitioning designs to production and implementing Design for Test (DFT) principles
