The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly capable
Logistics Controller
to take ownership of all import/export processes and support ongoing optimisation across logistics and warehouse operations. This is a key role within a fast-paced FMCG environment, suited to someone who thrives on efficiency, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Imports & Exports

  • Manage end-to-end import and export activity, including documentation, customs compliance, and freight coordination.
  • Ensure all shipments meet UK, EU, and international trade regulations, alongside strict food safety and high-risk manufacturing standards.
  • Build effective relationships with freight forwarders, hauliers, and customs partners to secure timely, cost-efficient movements.
  • Track all shipments, troubleshoot delays, and maintain accurate, audit-ready records.

Logistics & Warehouse Operations

  • Oversee daily logistics operations to ensure efficient inbound and outbound product flow.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams to improve space utilisation, stock accuracy, and dispatch performance.
  • Develop, monitor, and report on KPIs such as delivery accuracy, turnaround times, cost per shipment, and inventory performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance service levels, efficiency, and cost control.
  • Support operational planning for seasonal peaks, new product introductions, and promotional activity.

Continuous Improvement & Leadership

  • Lead initiatives aimed at streamlining processes, reducing waste, and boosting productivity.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement.
  • Work cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Procurement, Production, and Quality teams to ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide regular performance reports, cost analyses, and improvement updates to senior leadership.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in logistics, import/export, or supply chain management — ideally within FMCG or food manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations, customs procedures, and Incoterms.
  • Proven ability to manage relationships with 3PLs, freight forwarders, and customs agents.
  • Confident user of ERP/WMS systems with strong data analysis skills (Excel or similar).
  • Exceptional organisational, problem-solving, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong communicator with leadership capability and the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Continuous improvement mindset; experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent is an advantage.
