Finance Manager
to oversee all financial operations and provide strategic insight to the Board.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on finance professional to lead a small, dedicated finance function while playing a pivotal role in the company's continued expansion.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Directors, you'll be responsible for the
management, control, and leadership of the Finance Department
, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all financial activities.

You'll provide clear financial reporting, attend senior management meetings, and present key insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and coordinating day-to-day finance operations.
  • Preparing monthly management accounts, P&L, balance sheet, variance analysis and cashflow forecasts.
  • Producing annual financial statements and coordinating the external audit process.
  • Preparing and monitoring annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Managing and negotiating annual financial commitments such as business rates, utilities and telecoms - liaising with suppliers, ensuring value for money and compliance.
  • Attending senior management and Board meetings, presenting financial performance, forecasts, and recommendations.
  • Managing Payroll, including bonuses, commissions, pensions, and associated compliance.
  • Overseeing statutory and regulatory submissions.
  • Maintaining effective cashflow management, controls, and reconciliations.
  • Liaising with auditors, insurers and external partners as required.
  • Providing financial insight and recommendations to Directors and senior leaders.

About You

We're looking for a proactive and commercially astute Finance Manager who thrives in an SME environment and enjoys a broad, hands-on remit.

You'll need to demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in a
    senior finance role within an SME manufacturing or engineering environment
    .
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of UK financial regulations.
  • Experience of working at Board level
    , with confidence in presenting financials and influencing senior decision-makers.
  • Excellent leadership, organisation, and communication skills.
  • Confidence in managing multiple priorities with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) or equivalent experience.
