The role

As a Mechanical Fitter, you'll be at the heart of one of the UK's most exciting defence programmes — the Type 31 frigate build. This is a hands-on role where your mechanical expertise will directly contribute to the delivery of cutting-edge naval capability. You'll be part of a dynamic team working in bays, manufacturing areas and build halls, installing and assembling critical components that power the Royal Navy's future fleet.

Day-to-day, you'll have the following responsibilities:

• Installing pumps, valves, pipework, filters, main engines and mounts
• Carrying out general mechanical fitting tasks across the build hall
• Using magnetic base drills and marking out fish plates
• Interpreting technical drawings and applying torque settings
• Diagnosing faults and ensuring high-quality workmanship

This role is full time, 36 hours per week and based onsite at Rosyth.

Essential experience of the Mechanical Fitter:

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
• Experience applying torque settings accurately
• Proven fault-finding skills in mechanical systems
• Background in heavy industry such as marine, oil & gas, automotive, aviation or shipbuilding
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment

Qualifications for the Mechanical Fitter:

• Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
