Purpose of the Role

The Pantry Manager will oversee the day-to-day running of the Duckbrook Pantry, ensuring it operates

efficiently, safely and in line with CDC's community values. This role will play a vital part in supporting

local residents by providing access to affordable food and essential items while fostering a warm, inclusive

and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities


• Operational Management


• Manage the day-to-day running of Duckbrook Pantry, ensuring a smooth and welcoming

operation.


• Oversee stock levels, deliveries and rotation of goods in line with food hygiene and safety

standards.


• Maintain accurate records of memberships, food donations, and distribution.


• Ensure the pantry is clean, organised and compliant with health, safety and hygiene regulations.


• Stock rotation


• Community Engagement


• Build positive relationships with pantry users, volunteers and local residents.


• Promote a respectful, non-judgemental atmosphere for all who access the service.


• Support community events, awareness campaigns and partnership projects linked to the pantry.

• Volunteer Supervision


• Recruit, train and coordinate volunteers, ensuring they feel supported and valued.


• Oversee volunteer rotas and allocate tasks to ensure effective teamwork.


• Uphold CDC's values of respect, inclusion and community spirit within the volunteer team.


• Administration & Reporting


• Keep accurate administrative records of stock, finances and attendance.


• Report weekly figures and feedback to the Charity Manager.


• Support funding applications and community reporting by sharing data and success stories.

Person Specification


• Essential:


• Experience in community work, food projects, retail or stock management.


• Excellent organisational and communication skills.


• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.


• Commitment to equality, inclusion, and community wellbeing.


• Understanding of confidentiality and safeguarding principles.


• Desirable:


• Food hygiene or health & safety qualification (training can be provided).


• Previous experience managing volunteers or similar community projects.


• Awareness of local support services and community needs.

Additional Information

The post is subject to satisfactory references and a enhanced DBS check.

Training and support will be provided by Community Development Chesterfield.

The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and sustaining a vital community resource. A

few voluntary hours will be required to manage deliveries. An in person interview and task will be

required.
